    Weekly news from Mrs. Deakin

Thank you for attending ‘Meet the Teacher’ on Tuesday and hearing all about what your children will be doing at school. All information from these meetings has been added to the website so you can familiarise yourself with relevant information. We would encourage you to read this info first before contacting the school office as often this is repeating what is already available.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Rev. Calvert to school for Tuesday’s Worship and the children all learnt a new song after he told an inspiring story of Faith. It is always wonderful to welcome visitors to school, please don’t forget the invitation to join Tuesday Worship extends to all parents and carers too.

Our After School Clubs begin in earnest next week and I’m delighted so many children want to take part and staff are willing to give their time. We hope your children really enjoy these clubs.

We will be taking part in ‘Jeans for Genes’ day on Friday 22nd September and our School Council will be leading this fundraising event. They will share information with you all but as an intro; children can come dressed as they would for school on Friday but can wear jeans and bring £1.00 for J4G charity. School shoes don’t need to be worn on this day unless you would like your children to wear them.

There's much excitement in school as our new ‘reading shed’ is beginning to be established. Children are currently involved in naming the shed and Miss Rolfe (along with Mrs Horsham) is gathering ideas to decorate this as a place where children can choose to read before school or at playtime. We have already received many good quality books and if you have any you are willing to donate, please see Miss Rolfe.

Each half term we will have a Sweetie Friday/tuck shop when children can buy sweeties and we raise much needed funds for school. The first sweetie Friday will take place at playtimes on Friday 6th October.

It's a special day today as Mr Sproson is celebrating a very BIG birthday (there's a 6 and a 0 involved) and we are looking forward to seeing him on Monday after his holiday. Sending him so much love from his Marton Family.

Let’s hope the weather improves over the weekend for us all.

    Best wishes, Nevin
