    Head's Up!

    16 June 2023 (by headmarton)

    Weekly news from Mrs Deakin

Please can I start my Head’s Up with a big THANK YOU!

I am in a very lucky position of supporting a number of schools and talk to a great many Headteachers and never cease to feel so proud of the relationships we have with you all as parents and carers. You support your children so brilliantly and we value this relationship so much.

Thank you for recognising that days like today (burst water mains and road closures) are exceptional and we hope you appreciated the updates as soon as we posted these. United Utilities have repaired the burst pipe and this should not affect Monday but I will endeavour to update you if there are any changes.

We have some exciting changes of our own at school as some of you may have begun to see. Following Footprints departure we are now able to use this room for our children and I am delighted to inform you that this will be our new Reception childrens classroom, affectionately called ‘The Orchard’. Mrs Owen has been project managing the transformation and I am beyond proud of all EYFS staff and Mr Sproson who have dedicated so much time in preparing the room.

This also means we are in a position to move a few classrooms around:

    ·        Year 1 will be in the current Reception classroom with Mrs Sparey

    ·        Year 3 will be in the current Year 4 classroom with Ms Field

    ·        Year 4 will be in the current Year 5 classroom with Miss Clarke

    ·        Year 5 will be in the current Year 3 classroom with Mr Stewart

    ·        Our Current Year 1 classroom will be called ‘The Meadows’ and be used as a much needed classroom for interventions and support.

    ·         Both Year 2 and 6 classrooms will not change

We are having some internal adaptations before summer with a much needed revamp of the Staff Room among other areas to best use the space we have at school. Along with this a shed has been erected and will be a ‘Reading Shed’ from September that children can freely use at playtimes/lunchtimes with baskets of books, comics, etc. for children to enjoy if they wish. We are hoping that we will also create opportunities for children to read to each other too.

Can you tell we’ve been very busy lately J

Next week is National School Sports Week #nssw and the Youth Sport Trust want families to #pledgetoplay 60 minutes of sport. We'd love to see videos of you all taking part in the sports you and your family enjoy and explaining why physical activity is so important to your family.

You can email your videos to Mr Stewart- admin@marton.cheshire.sch.uk Please put FAO MR STEWART-PLEDGE TO PLAY VIDEO in the subject bar and he will share them in a special assembly in a few weeks time.

Wishing you all a super weekend with lots of good weather

    Nevin
