    Weekly news from Mrs Deakin

School has been very busy this week with a range of exciting activities happening and it’s been a pleasure to witness these. The Spring term is always a very busy one at schools as we plan exciting events and children’s confidence really begins to grow.

Several months ago one of our school governors introduced me to Cheshire Riding for the Disabled as they were able to offer us horse riding lessons at a very reasonable cost and we identified 4 children who we felt would greatly benefit from this opportunity. I’m delighted to tell you the children started these sessions this week and thoroughly enjoyed them. Whilst we are unable to offer this for every child, we hope you know as parents that we are always thinking of creative ways in which to inspire your children.

With this in mind we are looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year on 1st February. Rachel will be offering a Themed Lunch on this day and we have organised a Chinese Dance Workshop for all children to take part in. F & F will be donating some funds to cover this and we would kindly ask parents to contribute £1.50 for the workshop too. ParentPay will be live from Monday for this payment, thank you in advance.

We know managing Covid remains a challenge and the guidance of what to do can be confusing, Cheshire East have revised their recommendations and their 5 day (sibling) isolation rule no longer applies. All schools within the Congleton Partnership will be informing parents that this comes into effect from Monday 17th January. Any sibling of a child who has Covid (where the sibling is not showing symptoms) should take a Lateral Flow Device tests for 5 days to keep checking for possible infection.  As long as they remain negative, children can come into school. Please do continue to inform us of any positive cases.

Changes to the self-isolation period for those who test positive for COVID-19 has been added to the school jotter, please read this information carefully.

    To summarise:

From Monday 17 January, people who are self-isolating with COVID-19 will have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative with a lateral flow device (LFD) test on both day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a temperature. Children and Staff can return to school on Day 6.

If the result of either of their tests is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.

We have revamped Friday Celebration Assembly and launched ‘Marton Magic Moments’ today – do ask your child about this award as it’s really rather special!

    Happy weekend, Nevin
