    Happy New Year!

    2 January 2022 (by headmarton)

    Information for Families

I hope you have all enjoyed the Christmas holidays and are looking forward to the return to school on Wednesday 5th January. We have staff training on Tuesday 4th January as staff undertake Positive Handling/Team Teach training and have resumed LFD tests ready for the return to school.

We have continued to receive DFE updates and whilst these are lengthy, the key points to be aware of are:

    • The DFE has asked that secondary school pupils undertake one on-site test, on return in January. This does not affect primary aged children.

    • Since Wednesday 22 December, the 10-day self-isolation period for people who record a positive PCR test result for COVID-19 has been reduced to 7 days.

    • Individuals may now take LFD tests on day 6 and day 7 of their self-isolation period. Those who receive two negative test results are no longer required to complete 10 full days of self-isolation. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 6 of the self-isolation period and tests must be taken 24 hours apart. This also applies to children under five, with LFD testing at parental or guardian discretion. If both these test results are negative, and the person does not have a high temperature, they may end their self-isolation after the second negative test result and return to school from day 8.

    • The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) confirmed that a primary course of vaccination should be offered to children aged 5 to 11 years old who are in a clinical risk group, or who are a household contact of someone (of any age) who is immunosuppressed. The NHS is working through updated guidance and will set out how this is going to be operational soon.

    • The NHS will communicate how eligible children and young people can get their boosters shortly.

Wishing you all good luck and happiness for the New Year,

    Best wishes, Nevin Deakin
