A message for Parents and Carers

    24 April 2020 (by headmarton)

From Sue Furness, our Chair of Governors

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you all for all the support and encouragement that you are providing for our pupils. Communication is crucial in these times and I do hope that you are using the brilliant Seesaw system as a key part of your family life. It’s a super means by which you and your children can enter into a dialogue and share their learning with staff, not forgetting that staff can provide vital feedback and encouragement. It’s all about team work and I’m sure that our Marton family team will rise to the challenge.

You will remember that just prior to school closing the Governors had entered into a consultation regarding the closure of our school nursery and the proposal that a third party nursery provider- Footprints- took over nursery provision on our site, covering the 0 to 4 age range. The governors met on 25th March (via Zoom) and discussed the feedback received. Considering the feedback received from current and prospective parents and carers ,the outcome was that we should proceed with the proposal and that Footprints would become our nursery provider from the start of the Summer term . This decision was unanimous. We are all extremely pleased to be welcoming such a well respected nursery provider to Marton and are excited about working closely with them in the near future.  Obviously the date is not set however ,we can confirm that they will be opening as soon as they are able to following the government guidelines in the current situation.

We have now been in lock down for several weeks and currently don’t know how long it will continue for .... and indeed what “normal “ life will be like after. Suffice to say the current situation will change and we will all get through it despite the trials and tribulations it is bringing. Please do not hesitate to use the communication lines available with any questions or queries you may have regarding the children and their learning. We are all here to help ...please do not hesitate to contact us if you need to.

I would like to thank all our wonderful staff, led by Nevin. We are in a very difficult situation but are all working hard to ensure as much continuity as possible for your children. We are also very fortunate to have superb non teaching staff who, whilst practising social distancing, are ensuring that our school building is being looked after and our admin systems are in great shape. A final piece of news which we have been waiting for for quite a while ...a new school boiler installed over the summer . This will be more efficient ,effective and save us money !

And finally to date we aren’t aware of any proposed return to school date , as soon as we know anything further we will advise you all.

With best wishes, take care and stay safe

    Sue
