    TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF NURSERY PROVISION

Following the 4-week consultation period regarding our nursery suspension and taking into consideration discussions, governor meetings and responses received from parents; we can confirm that from 1st January 2020 our nursery will be suspended.

We can confirm the nursery has not closed and that should we receive increased interest in nursery provision, we will reinstate the nursery – giving you all advance notice.

As this is a temporary suspension this will allow us some time to ensure we are confident in any final decisions made. We can actually suspend the nursery for two years (till January 2022) before we have to make any definite decisions.

We are hoping that pupil numbers will increase each year as we want to continue to support single classes ensuring the outcomes for our pupils is always the very best. We do also want to retain our rural, family identity and will continue to monitor pupil numbers and what impact this has at school.

It has been suggested that we re-establish a ‘Mums and Tots’ group that we held at Marton several years ago and if anyone is willing to do this – you would be more than welcome to use our facilities. Please let us know via the school office if this is something you would be interested in.

We have excellent relationships with local nurseries within the area and therefore the transition to school will not be affected for any future reception children. Together with Mrs Owen’s experience and relationships with other nurseries we do not envisage any negative changes for the transition work we plan for reception children and in fact, may be able to offer many more transition days for future reception children.

We are extremely fortunate to have an experienced Governing Body who meet often to discuss Early Years and who will continue to meet termly to review nursery numbers and the suspension.

We therefore thank you on behalf of the Governing Body for your understanding and reasoning. Nursery will remain a priority and we will update you with information as we are able to.

    With best wishes

Mrs S Furness - Chair of Governors & Mrs N Deakin
