    Weekly news from Mrs Deakin

    What a busy half term!

We returned after Christmas to a Covid Outbreak and I am proud of how we all managed to operate despite challenging numbers and controls. It has been wonderful to ‘return to normal’  enjoying assemblies, worship, school lunch and being together. We are anticipating DFE guidance over half term and if needed, I will share any updates with you. Cheshire East Public Health Consultants have recommended that all children who attend schools and colleges are asked to take an LFT before they return to school after the half term break although this guidance is likely to change in the coming weeks. Please do continue to keep us updated.

In Celebration assembly last week Mrs Field announced that Green were the winning House Team this half term and had collected the most House Points, they have had an end of term treat with me today to thank them for all their hard work and efforts.

Sweetie Friday today has been a real end of term treat for all children too. Many thanks to F & F for arranging this and to Year 6 for selling sweeties. Our next Sweetie Friday is 25th March.

I had the pleasure of accompanying Year 5 to watch Eaton Bank perform Grease at the Daneside Theatre this week and was hugely impressed with our children’s behaviour! We all had a super time and felt incredibly proud of many Marton ex pupils who were in the performance. We also received recognition from EBA staff for our children’s exemplar behaviour – they were a credit to school and their families!

We return to a very busy half term on Monday 28th February and we would like to remind you all about school uniform. As we were dealing with Covid, we allowed children to wear hoodies and jumpers over school uniform as we were keeping rooms well ventilated. From 28th Feb, children will not be wearing hoodies/jumpers and must come to school in uniform please. This is to keep us all looking smart and ready to represent school well. As a reminder some parents have asked about summer dresses. Summer dresses can be worn with jumpers and cardigans and we wear blue/white checked dresses please.

A few key dates for you all:

    • Ash Wednesday service at school Wednesday 2nd March
    • World book day Thursday 3rd March
    • Parents Surgery at school 9.15am Friday 4th March
    • Reminder: Parents Evenings take place on Monday 28th and Wednesday 30th March, information to follow after half term

Wishing you and your families a very happy half term, let’s hope for lots of Spring sunshine too. See you all on Monday 28th February.

Message from Cheshire East Public Health:

Thanks to everyone for taking part in testing over the past months either as regular testing or in response to outbreaks. This is an essential part in the fight against the pandemic. In Cheshire East the number of cases are reducing but remain very high, therefore it is very important that we continue to do all we can to protect ourselves and others.  For this reason we are asking that all children attending school or college(not including pre-school)  take a Lateral Flow Test on the morning of the day they return to education after the half term break.  If this is positive, they should not attend. They should also stay away from school or college and book a PCR test if they have any symptoms.

Parents/carers are reminded that current guidance is that all children in Y7 and above continue with regular twice weekly testing. If there are any changes to this, you will be informed.
