    TEAM MARTON Sports November 2021

    9 November 2021 (by Year5)

It has been great to return to competitive sport over the last couple of months and Team Marton have impressed in every event they have taken part in. Competitions have been coming thick and fast and there are a few more to go before the children have a well-deserved break over Christmas.

Year 5 and Year 6 have been busy with Cross country, Football, Girls Football and Netball. The cross-country team have competed in the Macclesfield races twice and the Congleton series once. Trulie (Year 6) dominated the Congleton race and will look to consolidate her first-place finish in the race after Christmas. Everyone has run well and with great determination in what have been some very tricky conditions.

The Year 3 and Year 4 Cross country team have also shown great potential for the future with some fantastic running from Emily (Year 3), Martha (Year 4) and Sam (Year 4). The enthusiasm for Cross Country from the whole of Year 3 has been amazing and considering most of the class have never represented Marton at a sporting fixture before, they have shown wonderful resilience and team spirit.

We have been busy on the football pitch and have taken teams to play at Manchester City, Congleton High School and Eaton Bank. The Year 6 team represented Marton impeccably at Manchester City and enjoyed showing their talent against schools from around the North West.

In the Year 5 and Year 6 mixed league, the team played  3 games (Won 2, lost 1) and are looking forward to the next round of matches after Christmas. Some solid defending and distribution of the ball from William (Year 6), some keen shooting from Khy (Year 6) and some cracking saves from Nile (Year 6) were standout moments.

The KS2 Girls football team had their first outing last week (Played 4, Won 2 and lost 2) and displayed a wealth of talent across the board. Superb character from the girls who decided to have a go in goal and some eagle eyed shooting from Trulie (Year 6) meant that the team now sit mid-table.

There are more fixtures coming up, Year 5/6 have the Datastor cup this week and the Girls Year 5/6 team are off to Manchester City the following week.

The children at school are a joy to take to these fixtures and they display the School Games values throughout. Keep it up TEAM MARTON.

Away from competition, we would like to say a huge thank you to ASM. They have been in to school today to offer the children an opportunity to try Scooter Skills. Scooting is a fantastic way to build core strength and to keep fit. There was a focus on mental well-being by keeping active. They have loved this opportunity and it was lovely to see everyone encouraging others. I’m sure some children will be wanting to add a scooter to their Christmas lists!!!
