    Staffing news from September 2021

    11 June 2021 (by headmarton)

    Information for Families

I am delighted to be confirming the staffing with you all from September 2021 in advance of our annual ‘Move Up Morning’ which is taking place this year on Tuesday 22nd June. This date coincides with a transition day for our new Reception children and we have chosen an earlier date this year to also support year 6 transition days to their high schools.

I continue to feel blessed and supported by a skilled, enthusiastic and hardworking team and consider Marton to be a very special place to be! This year we have seen a significant increase in pupil numbers and this is a testament of the reputation we have at school and your support as parents and carers.

As you will all know I have been supporting Lower Park School since Easter and will remain in this current position (of managing two schools) for the Autumn term too. This has actually been a seamless process as I am ably supported by excellent Senior Leadership Teams and Governing Boards of both schools. We have already begun some collaboration work and there is much to gain from sharing ideas and thoughts between two schools. It has also meant that we can incorporate some changes at Marton that are hugely beneficial.

Miss Andrew (a qualified teacher) has been employed at Marton since October and has worked predominantly with Year 1 and in Key Stage 2. She is an excellent member of staff and we have offered her a temporary contract for the autumn term (in keeping with my work at Lower Park) to teach Year 2 children. This will ensure Year 1 have some continuity and Mrs Field will teach the children one day per week and support Miss Andrew.

    Staffing:

    • Mrs Owen will have responsibility for our Early Years Children

    • Miss Copestick will have responsibility for Year 1 children

    • Miss Andrew will have responsibility for Year 2 children 4 days per week and Mrs Field 1 day per week

    • Mrs Sparey will have responsibility for Year 3 children.

    • Mr Marks will have responsibility for Year 4 children.

    • Miss Byron will have responsibility for Year 5 children.

    • Mrs Wilson will have responsibility for Year 6 children.

Mrs Field will remain as Deputy Headteacher and offer curriculum support as we begin to prepare for any future school inspections. We are delighted that we have been able to have this opportunity and feel this will provide school with great support and preparation time.

Our teaching assistants will continue to be deployed effectively to support our pupils and to support any children with additional needs. For pupils who do have 1:1 support, parents are always consulted about support for their children. We continue to review and discuss teaching assistant support with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and Management Governors each half term.

ASM who joined us last year continue to be an incredible partnership and we will continue to be employ them for our PE provision and PPA times. They will be in school on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the next academic year. More information about PE days will be sent before the end of term.

All children will have the opportunity to meet their new teacher/classroom on Move up Morning which will take place on Tuesday 22nd June. Children will need to enter school at their new classroom door as we cannot gather in the hall due to Covid restrictions. Staff will also be outside on the playground to support children.

    With best wishes

    Nevin J Deakin
