    Message from our School Governors

22 May 2020 (by Sandra Bedford (Bursarmarton))

    Dear Parents and Carers

We are now at the end of the first half of the Summer term and when we went into “lockdown” on 23rd March who would have thought that school wouldn’t be opening again until June ?   9 weeks in total to date…..

On behalf of myself and my fellow governors I am wanting to wholeheartedly thank the staff, pupils, parents, carers and all involved in school life for the support and encouragement which has been shown during this time. We cannot thank them enough for their unstinting dedication.

Staff have gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure a robust distance learning and monitoring system for those pupils not in school. Alongside this they have produced a support rota for keyworker children who are attending school on a daily basis. Putting this into context with the ever changing Government directives has added an extra challenge. The latest being the uncertainty over the return date to school . These challenges have been addressed with care and understanding to ensure that all involved are kept up to date with the latest advice and indeed understand exactly what the advice  means. I hope that our clear concise messages have helped you all assess your own particular family situations so that the decisions made have been personal to your own family. We respect these and are here to help with any queries or questions  which may arise.

We are all in challenging times trying to make plans to move forward, which is difficult when the advice received is neither consistent nor robust. When making decisions we do ensure that all involved in our Marton family are considered. This has taken a phenomenal input from all staff both teaching and non-teaching. Our wonderful pupils are at the centre of this. Ensuring that they can all engage with online learning and receive as much support as they need is vital.  They have all risen to the challenge and are producing some amazing work using Seesaw for staff to access and support them with. They are a huge credit to our school guided by our amazing staff and yourselves.

Each school is addressing the challenges it faces in different ways. We are taking the opportunity to access online meetings to be brought up to speed with what is happening in our local school partnership. However our fellow schools are meeting the challenge this is personal to their school and pupils. We feel that the framework within which we are operating at Marton, in the current circumstances, is working as well as it can with the input of our amazing staff and pupils. We recognise that everyone involved is working above and beyond.

You will all now have received Nevin’s update re the phased reopening of school and we hope that this clear . We have been in touch with Dean and can confirm that for the foreseeable future there won’t be any wrap around care provided by Kickstart. This will be reviewed on an ongoing basis in conjunction with the plans for school reopening. Please feel free to contact Dean directly if your child is coming back to school and wrap around care is something that you require.

Let’s all hope that the next few days will bring some clarity from Government and Cheshire East Council over what is actually happening . In the meantime many thanks for all your support to your children. Families play a crucial role within a child’s education and with teamwork we will get through this together.

Once again many thanks for all your support .

Best wishes on behalf of myself and my fellow governors

    Sue
