    Weekly news from Mrs Deakin

We conducted our first ever Parents Surgery via Zoom today, many thanks to those families that were able to join us. The date of the next meeting is: Friday 23rd October.

We had a special visitor to school this week, Rev Naylor came and presented us with the most beautiful banner with our school values; Sow, Nurture, Grow on. This was her leaving gift to school and we are looking forward to displaying this for everyone to see.

Rev Arch conducted an Outdoor Worship in our beautiful grounds on Tuesday for KS2 and (weather permitting) will conduct Worship for KS1 next week. Thank you Rev Arch.

Many thanks to all the parents and carers who have returned their parents evening forms for our first ever Zoom Parents Evening on Monday. School will remain open till 3.30pm but parents evening will take place from 2.30 – 6.30pm. Year 3 Parents evening will be conducted later on this term.

We have been so lucky to welcome further new families to school since we returned and a new member of staff. Miss Harvey will be joining our team from Monday to support a pupil. I know you will all join me in welcoming them. We are also hoping to support teacher training students in the coming weeks and we look forward to working with them too.

Many thanks for supporting your children today for Jeans for Genes; everyone looked fab! Please don’t forget children (and staff) can wear their pyjamas next Friday to support Macmillan Coffee morning and pay £2.00 for this worthy charity. Children are welcome to bring a cake to eat at snack time too!

PLEASE can we ask parents to respect social distancing and NOT congregate on the playgrounds at the start and end of the day. Children are to arrive between 8.50am – 9.15am to prevent gathering and to be collected from 3.15 – 3.30pm. Staff are still trying to teach children particularly at the end of the day and this is causing some disruption. This is a measure to support your children and you, many thanks.

I have begun hearing KS2 children read daily and this has been a great delight, many thanks children for being so inspiring! This is now my favourite part of the day.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, stay safe, Nevin
